Malaysia is a country of many cultures and many races and we celebrate most of these festivals in harmony. Malaysia however is also a country of ultra-mega sized shopping centers. Shopping centers in Malaysia are really big and well equipped. When festive seasons arrived you'll see something what I call it as 'The War of the Decorations' among these shopping centers. The major festive celebrations in Malaysia are Hari Raya, Chinese New Year, Deepavali and Christmas. The major shopping centers would put up massive themes of decorations and others to attract shoppers.
Christmas for this year finally came and pass. Like I said, the War of the Decorations went on as well. This year I took a long stretch of leaves from my job to rest during Christmas and to anticipate the New Year 2008. So I wasted my holidays visiting these major shopping centers and I want to show you their decorations.
My visit this time is The Curve. This year their theme changed into the typical snowman and reindeer near a small house where Santa usually rests. The theme is very whitish with snow everywhere and 'hanging' representations of snowflakes.Meet my fiancee, Sharon who went with me shopping. The Curve is a new found special place for us. Although it is quite far from where we stay but somehow the place has the special 'no-nonsense' feeling from the busy streets of Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia's capital city).
Shopping or driving to shopping centers in Kuala Lumpur can be a blood-coughing experience. Complementing the mega shopping centers in Kuala Lumpur are massive traffic jams, massive car parks with no parking spaces, and their massive charges. Don't even get me started with the actual buying experience in these shopping centers, because they are packed as a canned sardine. So you see, The Curve is a special place for us.
We had lunch at Thai Express, a first for us. We passed by this restaurant at The Street many times and it has never cross our minds of choosing such a place for lunch. There were many people which indicates popularity but we never thought of going there. Not sure why. So this time, we broke the norm and decided to try it. The outcome was very good especially the curried soft shell crab. Pretty special dish.
After lunch, we walk around satisfied and we took these photos.
This is the first set of photos taken during my recent trip to Australia. Well most people would anticipate pictures of sight-seeing, lots of tourists and such, but mine started a little bit different - my sister's graduation. If you're into pictures of Australia, please wait a little longer. I'm working on it.
The first half of my vacation in Australia was wonderful in the sense that I get to witness my sister's graduation. The road to the first degree has always been difficult for many people, especially myself. Seeing my sister passing this difficult but important mark is a turning point for my parents and myself. I don't know if you guys still remember the day you graduated but mine hasn't been a wonderful one and I still don't know why. Hehe!
As many of you could have guessed by now I was the photographer for my sister's graduation. Grace has been a pleasure to work with not because she was my sister but because she was happy and was amongst her family. I don't think I will understand life overseas away from family members and away from the comfort of your own home. But seeing your family members for the first time in many months is a really something words cannot explain. Participating in her graduation was a lot of fun and helped me remember my own graduation. Seeing her friends all united together was a moment of joy to capture - from the camera shutter perspective.
The joy is recorded on a series of photos you will be looking shortly. I hope you enjoy them. Time to dig out your graduation memories.

Just want to notify to those I have given the URL of my Vox to be patient while I prepare my photographs to be uploaded into this website.
As a general description, 10% blog (tenpercent blog) is simply a blog of moments I capture with my camera of the things I see in my daily life. It is a blog that is heavily influenced by the internet pop culture. 10% is also a blog (hopefully) that will provide new information, new places and new networkings for my readers. Most importantly 10% will also record my daily life and what I have to say about myself.
So stay around for some new updates in the near future. Thank you.
